First of all, I’d like to express how much pleasure it is to write about this band. Besides being formed by brothers from the streets and from life, Tampa de Fossa was one of the groups that deeply marked our youth — or maybe the end of it. The band emerged as a genuine expression of the feelings and experiences lived through the suburban hangouts we used to have around 2012.
Back then, Brasília’s underground scene was thriving, with countless crust punk, thrash metal, death metal, and anarcho-punk bands. And, unlike what many imagine, punks and bangers used to hang out side by side, strengthening a culture of unity and mutual respect. Tampa de Fossa translated exactly that spirit: friendship, peace, beer, fun, social protest, and resistance against police violence.
The original lineup featured Gleuson (“Scream Arrebite do Mal”) on guitars and vocals, Rafael (“BahiaThrashBeerAcarajé”) on drums, and Tiago das Quebras on bass. Later on, Stopa and Danilo also passed through the band, taking on the four strings.
The group recorded a tape that became a reference among regulars of the local scene, featuring songs like “Nas Ruas,” “Tampa de Fossa,” and “Eu Quero Ser Livre,” tracks that perfectly captured the sense of freedom, rebellion, and nonconformity present in that generation.
Throughout its trajectory, Tampa de Fossa played numerous shows in Brasília and the surrounding Entorno region, building a solid reputation within the local punk rock scene. Over the years, the band cemented its name as one of the classics of the Brasília scene, especially in its hometown, Samambaia, where it helped strengthen one of the most authentic expressions of punk culture in the Federal District.
