Under the Ruins Under the Ruins

Under the Ruins

Under the Ruins

Discografia:

  • 2006 — Alcoholized Ways (Demo 1)
  • 2008 — Um Faroeste Sobre o Terceiro Mundo (EP)
  • 2010 — 4 Way for Destruction (4 way split, Karasu Killer Recs)
  • 2018 — A Taberna da Última Chance (EP)

Another band from a great brother. Formed in 2006 by members from the satellite cities of the Federal District, Under the Ruins built its underground identity with an aggressive, fast, and visceral crust. The band combines the filth and urgency of d-beat and hardcore with the harshness of grindnoise and metalpunk, creating a sound that’s direct, chaotic, and uncompromising.

Under the Ruins

Influenced by Brazilian hardcore, especially names like Ratos de Porão, and by the Japanese tradition of crust and d-beat represented by bands like Disclose, Under the Ruins turns weight and speed into a brutal reading of reality. Their lyrics tackle everyday violence, civil wars, human decay, and the sense of social collapse from a nihilistic, indignant perspective.

The band doesn’t present itself as the spokesperson for any specific cause. Instead, it exposes contradictions, discomforts, and images of a world in ruins, preserving the freedom of interpretation and the critical attitude characteristic of punk. That combination appears in works like the 1st Demo (2006), their contribution to the compilation 4 Way for Destruction Vol. I (2010), and Demo II (Um Faroeste Sobre o Terceiro Mundo), released in 2012.

With apocalyptic vocals, harsh guitars, accelerated drums, and a production geared toward rawness, Under the Ruins represents the autonomous force of the Federal District’s punk and hardcore scene. It’s a band that turns indignation into noise, speed, and confrontation — a sonic record of a country marked by violence, inequality, and the decomposition of its social structures.

Under the Ruins is in a coma-hiatus, but it’s still active — in 2026 they played a show at “The Plague Returns 2,” celebrating 20 years of career.

The lineup documented in 2009/2010 was Felipe Rodrigues (bass and vocals), Helder Vigilante (drums), and Rafael Sthoppa (guitar).
